Though, demand dove is a bird that breed easily but it is always difficult to identify the male or female. It is harder, until then become adult. The easiest way of sexing a demand dove pair is that the male diamond dove sings and dance while female don't. It expand its tail wings just like a peacock. It starts cooing when he reached the age of 4/5 months. The other identify of male and female dove is that the males rings around their eyes are darker as compared to the female doves. In case all the pairs are placed in a single cage, you will also see that they sit separately as couples.
To start breeding, place each pair in a separate portion of the cages, as jointly the breeding will be very slow. Diamond dove lays one or two eggs in a single clutch and it takes a fortnights' time in incubating the eggs. They care very much of their eggs. If female gets out of the nest for getting feed, the male will start incubating and sometimes they both perform the function of incubating. After the featherless youngs get out of the nest the diamond doves start feeding them and it took another fortnight and after that the parents want their baby out of their portion of cage. After that period they start for another clutch. This means that a pair of diamond dove reproduces one or two diamond doves each month.
